We may say mental health is the healthy exercise of our mental abilities and capabilities. Normal people may find it hard to describe or define what it is. We say a person is mentally healthy when he is able to interact with other persons well. People who are able to handle changes and diversity are said to be mentally healthy. The reality, only a few can tell how mentally healthy a person is. People tend to notice a person is not mentally healthy when he acts a bit of queer and not conforming to the standards we call normal. For many of us, mental health is something we don’t give a lot of thought.

We may feel gloomy for an extended period of time, but we don’t find it something alarming. As people, we don’t really put much thought on the value of mental health. It is often misunderstood. There are physical problems that may lead to problems of the body. In women, some of them suffer in some form of depression after giving birth. Women who are pregnant may face some mental challenges due to the changes in the hormones. Hormonal changes can cause problems and lead to challenges in mental health. Lack of sleep can cause problems to the mental health. There would be too much impact to the body when stress remains that can impact the body.

The key here is to be sensitive in finding out how good the mental health of the person is. Bad mental health can cause people to avoid eating or sleeping. In turn, the mental disorder has become the source of the breakdown in the physical health. Thinking a lot can cause problems too.

Being sensitive can lead people to understand what mental health is all about. The right knowledge can help people to have their cases treated. Being unable to get the right treatment may lead to bigger problems.
